Joseph Melto Quiah’s journey from Liberia to the professional ranks is a testament of hard work, talent, and the right mentorship. The former University of Dayton standout has officially signed his first professional contract with Toronto FC II, marking the next chapter in an already impressive career.
Quiah’s story is closely tied to Ken Soccer Academy’s Student-Athlete Program, which played a crucial role in his transition to the U.S. for collegiate soccer. The program, founded by CEO Mr. Arnold Kennedy, has been instrumental in providing young Liberian players with exposure, training, and opportunities abroad. Mr. Kennedy, who launched the academy in Monrovia, has helped shape the futures of numerous aspiring athletes, including Quiah, by providing technical training and mentorship.
Quiah’s rise to prominence began in Liberia, where he played for LISCR FC in the country’s first division. His talent earned him a spot at Vision International Christian Academy and later the University of Dayton, where he became a key figure on the soccer team. Over three years with the Flyers, he racked up 14 goals, 16 assists, and 170 shots in 47 games. His standout performances earned him All-Atlantic 10 honors every season, culminating in a Third Team USC All-America selection in 2024.
Mr. Kennedy’s guidance, along with the training and support provided through Ken Soccer Academy, helped Quiah refine his skills and prepare for the challenges of high-level competition. His selection as the 69th overall pick in the 2025 MLS SuperDraft by Toronto FC underscores his potential and the impact of the academy’s development program.
Quiah now embarks on his professional journey with Toronto FC II, carrying with him the lessons learned from his time in Liberia and the U.S. As he takes the next step in his career, his success serves as inspiration for the next generation of young players nurtured through Ken Soccer Academy’s Student-Athlete Program.
